2008 NFL Coaching Changes

Atlanta: Bobby Petrino resigned as head coach. The new head coach is Mike Smith, with Mike Mularkey taking over as offensive coordinator.

Smith was the defensive coordinator of the Jaguars. Smith earned a Super Bowl ring with Baltimore in 2000 while serving as the defensive line coach and is the brother-in-law of former Ravens head coach Brian Billick.

Baltimore: John Harbaugh is the new head coach, the former Philadelphia Eagles secondary coach.

Buffalo: Turk Schonert is the new offensive coordinator.

Cincinnati: Mike Zimmer is the new defensive coordinator.

Detroit Lions: Joe Barry has been promoted to defensive coordinator, while Jim Colletto has been promoted to offensive coordinator.

Miami: Tony Sparano is the new Head Coach. He spent five seasons as an assistant with the Dallas Cowboys.

St. Louis: Al Saunders is the Rams' new offensive coordinator. He had been OC for the Redskins and Chiefs the last 7 years.

San Francisco: Mike Martz is the new offensive coordinator.

Seattle: Mike Holmgren will coach the 2008 season and then retire. Jim Mora will take over in 2009.

Tennessee: Mike Heimerdinger is back as offensive coordinator, replacing Norm Chow.

Washington: HC Joe Gibbs retired. Jim Zorn is the new head coach; The former Seahawks quarterbacks coach has no head-coaching experience.
