PA SPORTSTICKER NL PREVIEW
(SAN DIEGO-CHICAGO CUBS)
*Zambrano hopes to continue success vs. Padres*
-----------------------------------------------
San Diego (14-24) at Chicago Cubs (22-15) 8:05 pm EDT
CHICAGO (Ticker) - Carlos Zambrano and the Chicago Cubs begin a
three-game set against the San Diego Padres at Wrigley Field on
Monday.
A rainout on Sunday postponed the series finale between Chicago
and Arizona, a team that Zambrano (5-1, 1.80 ERA) - Sunday's
scheduled starter - is just 1-2 against with a 4.88 ERA in four
career starts.
The Padres, on the other hand, have experienced very little
success against the righthander as he is 4-1 with a 1.94 ERA in
seven lifetime starts against them, his lowest ERA against any
National League team.
Zambrano was on top of his game once again in Tuesday's 3-0 win
over the Cincinnati Reds when he yielded just three hits and
three walks over eight innings, extending his unbeaten streak to
five games.
In seven of his eight turns this season, the righthander has
yielded two runs or less, pitching into the seventh inning each
time.
San Diego will turn to Randy Wolf (2-2, 4.14), who will be
hoping to snap a three-game winless drought. The lefthander
lost his second straight decision in Wednesday's 5-2 setback to
the Atlanta Braves when he surrendered five runs and eight hits
over six frames while matching a season-high with four walks.
