LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) - Kansas coach Mark Mangino is
returning to work Tuesday after being hospitalized for tests
over the weekend.
The 51-year-old coach issued a statement late on Monday
insisting he was fine and ready to get back to work.
"I underwent some tests over the past couple of days at Lawrence
Memorial Hospital," the statement said.
"These are tests that I had put off until after the season. The
tests have been completed. I'm fine and I'll be back in the
office and recruiting starting tomorrow."
Mangino's weight has long been a concern, and it is believed he
has been encouraged to have gastric bypass surgery by family and
friends.
Mangino led the Jayhawks to a school-record 12-1 mark in 2007,
capped by a 24-21 win over Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl.
