This NFL Top 10 will be based on a bettor's perspective, rating teams not on their record, but their current strength.
1) NEW ENGLAND: WHEW...Pats had won their first 10 games by AN AVERAGE of 25 points but A J Feeley-led Eagles gave them a prime scare. New England closed as a 24-point favorite, the biggest spread against a non-expansion team in Las Vegas sports book history!
2) INDIANAPOLIS: Peyton Manning broke out of a 2-game slump by going 22 of 32 for 272 yards and 3 touchdowns (all in the second quarter) as he passed Johnny Unitas for 10th place on the NFL's career passing list with 40,407 yards.
3) DALLAS: Thanksgiving Day rout of the Jets moves the Cowboys to 10-1 for the first time in club history. But little time to celebrate as the showdown for NFC supremacy with the 10-1 Green Bay Packers is next up!
4) GREEN BAY: Pack (10-1) matched it's best 11-game record since 1929 with a Turkey Day win over rival Lions. Brett Favre set a Green Bay record with 20 consecutive completions, going 31 of 41 for 381 yards and three scores on the day!
5) JACKSONVILLE: Jaguars have now won three straight heading into their AFC South battle with Indianapolis next week. David Garrard was an outstanding 23 of 37 for 296 yards with no interceptions and Fred Taylor ran for a season-high 104 yards and a score.
6) TAMPA BAY: No Jeff Garcia....no problem as the Bucs forced six Redskin turnovers (4 fumbles, 2 interceptions). Without Garcia (suffered a back injury and is listed as questionable for next week's game at New Orleans) Tampa Bay generated only 9 first downs and just 198 total yards.
7) SEATTLE: Surprise, surprise....Seattle beats St. Louis again....their 6th win in a row over their NFC West rivals as they come back from a 19-7 third quarter deficit.
8) PITTSBURGH: Don't know what was uglier....the Steeler and Dolphin performances or the turf. After five high school and college games were played at Heinz Field last weekend, a new layer of sod was laid down over the chewed up turf for Monday's slop-fest.
9) CLEVELAND: Surprising Browns notched their 5th consecutive win at home and their fifth win in six games overall as they took apart the Houston Texans. Even their oft-criticized defense contributed, limiting a solid Houston offense to just 314 total yards.
10) NEW YORK GIANTS: The Jeckyll and Hyde Giants, who either look real good or real bad, were certainly the later this past week as they were slammed 41-17 by the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota has now picked off Eli Manning EIGHT TIMES in two games!
